Bangor Savings Bank Hears Pitch from Wiscasset Fourth Grade Students
Real-world learning is happening at Wiscasset Elementary School! Fourth-grade entrepeneurs at the school had the unique opportunity to learn about financial literacy, teamwork, and public speaking from members of the Bangor Savings Bank management team. The Minot Mighty Chess Club: A Community Chess Program for All Ages!
Everyone should have the opportunity to play chess -- that's the mission behind a new Community Chess Program at the Minot Consolidated School! Last year, teachers and second-grade students at the schools worked together as part of the schools Gifted and Talented Program to create this new initiative, where students learn how to play chess, use chess clocks, and utilize chess notation to track their moves. Socktober: 5th-Grade Service Learning Project to Support Maine's Homeless at MSAD 51
At Greely Middle School, two classrooms are embarking on service learning to help their entire community! Last fall, Mrs. Gervais's and Mrs. Rothbart's 5th-grade students created Socktober to raise awareness about homelessness and provide an opportunity to supply people in need with their number one needed item—socks! Bridging Generations: "Meeting in the Middle" Tradition Begins at MSAD #51
Last fall, a new tradition at MSAD #51 began - "Meeting in the Middle"! The goal is to connect the newest MSAD 51 with the youngest ones. Seniors at Greely High School and kindergarteners at the Mabel I. Wilson Schol gathered on the field -- the seniors at the 26-yard line (representing the class of 2026), and the kindergarteners at the 38-yard line (for the class of 2038).
