In September, China Middle School hosted a free car wash for first responders and veterans in honor of the twenty third anniversary of 9/11! The support from the community, students, and parents was tremendous! Students washed 39 vehicles in fewer than 6 hours, including several police cruisers, fire trucks, a corvette, pick-up trucks, a state trooper’s vehicle, and a K-9 unit’s Jeep! The student volunteers were incredibly respectful: they thanked each of their guests for their service; gave them a personalized, homemade thank you card; and made sure they received a refreshment, generously donated by families, while they waited. The weather was perfect, students had a blast, and the first responders and vets could not have been more grateful.
