Fifth-grade students at Windsor Elementary School are becoming enthusaistic engineers -- exploring coding, problem-solving, and teamwork with LEGOs!
Now, teachers are sharing those same experiences with younger grades by helping the fifth-graders mentor first-graders on LEGO building -- working side-by-side in pairs and guiding younger students through building and programming challenges.

The work has been pioneered by five teachers: Mrs. St Onge, Mrs. Brockway, Mrs. Demos, Mrs. Marks, and Mrs. Anuszewski.
After seeing the value of engineering and building to help fifth-graders develop valuable skills, the teachers designed the cross-grade mentorship to expand access to STEM education to younger students, while helping older students develop skills such as leadership, communication, and collaboration.
Combined, the student-led learning experiences have built strong community within the school and empower all learners and build a culture of mentorship and curiosity!
