Remarkable things are happening in Maine’s public schools every day, and we want you to shout these stories from the rooftops! 📣 Actually, that may not be the most effective method for spreading the word, but Maine Loves Public Schools is here with tips for how to share stories that make an impact.
Build Connections

A story is a connected series of events told through written or spoken words, photos or moving images, and more. Impactful stories build human connections through the sharing of common feelings or experiences.
We want to hear ALL the stories!
A story can take any form: it may be twenty words or two thousand, a collection of photos with a caption, a 10-second video, or something else. We want you to tell us all of your stories…even the ones you feel like you’ve told many times before! Whether your story is new or old, it is invaluable.
The most impactful stories will be those that highlight natural and authentic experiences. From Presque Isle to Kittery, focus on what matters to your school community. We invite you to explore the various examples of stories about Maine public schools found on our website!
The story below, from a MLPS Ambassador in China, Maine, is a great example of the connections that can be made with a single photo and a few words.

In September, China Middle School hosted a free car wash for first responders and veterans in honor of the 23rd anniversary of September 11! The support from the local community, students, and families was tremendous! Students washed 39 vehicles in fewer than 6 hours, including a K-9 unit’s Jeep! The student volunteers thanked each guest for their service and offered personalized, homemade thank you cards. Students had a blast, and the first responders & vets could not have been more grateful.
