In RSU 18, educators are proud of the amazing work happening in their classrooms every day! In order to recognize so many amazing moments, the district presents monthly "Moments of Pride," demonstrating the joy and triumph within classrooms.

At Atwood Primary School, first and second grade students are composing their own melodies using two rhythm blocks! The blocks are made with words translated into rhythms.

These musicians first learned the sequence as a group. Next, they improvised on a pentatonic scale before playing in a group rhythm block. Then, students composed their own and played as a group. In the final step, students played their compositions individually!

Mrs. Peterson shared that it’s been such a fun process to watch her young musicians compose their own melodies to rhythms they have chosen! Bravo!

Retelling in Kindergarten: Boys and girls in Mrs. Roberts’ kindergarten class created stick puppet characters from The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Students engaged in retelling the familiar story together as a class.
