Student voice and student choice are top priorities at Maranacook High School, which hosts Teen Issues Days to ensure students can take the lead in their learning!

On May 22nd, MCHS held its latest Teen Issues Days. Staff and community members led some sessions on topics such as forestry, vision boarding, Brazilian Dance, and volleyball -- but there were also more student-led sessions than ever before! These included demonstrations and teachings on Stick Welding, Race Car Driving, Sewing, Karaoke, ASL, and more.

Instead of starting the day with a keynote speaker, the Teen Issues students arranged for NAMI to present to each grade level throughout the day, focusing on how to better support mental health for ourselves, friends, and family. These sorts of activities play an important role in student engagement -- they boost attendance and prioritize communication with students and families.
